Pre-course for Advanced Students

Advanced Cardiac Life Support Pediatric Advanced Life Support students are required to complete pre-course material which consists of 2 parts:

(1) Video Lessons 

(2) Self-assessment

Both must be completed and brought with you the day of class.

BE ADVISED; Any student arriving without the pre-course material will not be allowed to sit in the class and will have to reschedule. A reschedule fee will be applied and can be found in the term of service.

The ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This Advanced Course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. ACLS also covers airway management and related pharmacology.

Skills are taught in large-group sessions and small-group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.

The ACLS course covers:

  • ACLS algorithms
  • Immediate post-cardiac-arrest care
  • Airway management
  • Rhythm recognition
  • High-quality CPR
  • 1-rescuer CPR AED
  • Effective resuscitation team dynamics
  • Science overview (update course)

This Web-based eLearning course provides the cognitive portion (Part 1) of the Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) course, and can be used for initial or renewal certification. Features eSimulation technology to let students participate in realistic patient scenarios, assess patients, and formulate treatment – online and at your own pace. Course participants who successfully complete Part 1 receive a certificate granting them entrance to a skills test (Part 2) with a certified American Heart Association ACLS instructor, which you must pass to qualify for an ACLS course card. Part 2 SkillS Testing                                                                         

To complete the AHA ACLS Online Part 2 (Skills Testing) the student must demonstrate proficiency in providing ACLS skills, including running the Megacode. The testing atmosphere will be informal and will allow students to practice skills prior to skills testing. The practice and testing will be conducted by a certified AHA Instructor. Upon successful completion you will receive your certification card on the same day. Skills testing will take approximately one hour.

  • Be successfully monitored teaching a course by Training Center Faculty / Regional Faculty

The Heartsaver ® CPR AED course is intended for all individuals who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements, including:

The Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course, which teaches participants critical skills and knowledge needed to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. This course also teaches adult CPR AED. The course is based on the 2020 American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and ECC.

This American Heart Association Family & Friends CPR program teaches students how to perform the basic skills of CPR/AED in adults, children and infants. This course also covers how to help an adult, child and infant who is choking.

 

This video and instructor-led CPR course offers families, friends and Babysitters the opportunity to learn basic CPR in comfort of your own home.
